COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Goleta Design Review Board advanced Sandpiper Golf Club's renovation plans to the Planning Commission and required project staff to adjust some design elements. The project would replace the aging 9,305 sqft clubhouse with a modern facility and redesign the 18-hole course (including restoring a historic gas station).  Noozhawk
  • The MultiCultural Center held a housing discussion on Jan. 20 to inform students about campus and Isla Vista options and explain the university’s weighted lottery system; presenters also shared tips on finding rentals (rental fairs are set for Feb. 5, Feb. 12, and March 3).  Daily Nexus
  • The city of Lompoc reopened the River Park RV Campground in the Santa Ynez Valley with renovated sites and 26 new spaces. Visitors can use full hookups, a playground, trails for walking, biking or horseback riding, and a fishing pond at $50 per night on a come first served basis.  KEYT

  • Santa Barbara Maritime Museum appointed Dean Noble as its new executive director, replacing Greg Gorga after 19 years.   • On Jan. 29, County Health endorsed the AAP’s 2026 immunization schedule, aligning with CDPH and partners to ensure timely vaccines for children and adolescents.
