- ➤ CommUnify is hosting the fourth annual 211 Community Day Celebration in Lompoc on Saturday, Feb. 7 from 11:00 a.m. — 3:00 p.m. at Dick DeWees Community Center; the free event features kids’ activities, health screenings, door prizes, free haircuts, free lunch for the first 300 attendees and a live radio broadcast. - ➤ A 58-year-old woman was airlifted from Tangerine Falls Trail Saturday morning (after texting 911 due to an ankle injury) when Montecito Fire Protection and County Search and Rescue teams responded by helicopter and took her to a local hospital. Edhat

- ➤ The McHurley Film Center reopened Monday on State Street with a ribbon cutting ceremony. The venue, renovated with new seats and sound systems plus an ADA ramp, was renamed for longtime philanthropic duo Nora McNeely Hurley and Michael Hurley and sets the stage for the upcoming film festival. - ➤ Trevor Noah, the Emmy Award-winning comedian, will perform at Santa Barbara Bowl on Aug. 1 and 2. The first show starts at 7 p.m. and tickets are available in several price ranges. Edhat
- ➤ The 41st Santa Barbara International Film Festival runs Feb. 4-14 and honors Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas and Wunmi Mosaku with its Virtuosos Awards for their Academy Award-nominated roles in SENTIMENTAL VALUE and SINNERS. - ➤ Cachuma Lake is full after holiday rains, and the California Department of Fish and Wildlife delivered 5,000 pounds of Rainbow Trout last week to boost fishing and recreation. - ➤ Montecito Fire Department will launch its 17th annual Neighborhood Chipping Program on Feb. 9 to help 1,870 residents reduce vegetation within 100 feet of homes & along roadways ahead of wildfire season. - ➤ Data from the Santa Barbara County Coroner’s Office showed a decline in alcohol and drug overdose deaths in 2025 with 121 cases in the first nine months (37% involved opioids and most were linked to fentanyl). The report noted a 42% drop in opioid fatalities from 2024. Edhat
