  • Kaylynn Herrera, a 30-year-old Goleta resident found in the Santa Clara River on January 23, is remembered by her family who are raising funds for her funeral & memorial expenses; the funeral mass is set for 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mark's University Parish in Isla Vista.  Santa Barbara Independent
  • Santa Barbara’s Sustainability & Resilience Department has launched the 'Own Your Impact' campaign to inspire residents to take simple actions that improve local neighborhoods and the environment.   • Today, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office reminds families and teens to stay alert to online exploitation, urging them to use the Exploitation Awareness Card (a guide for spotting and reporting risky online behavior). ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • On Friday night, a 26-year-old surfer clung to a lobster trap buoy at Haskell’s Beach and was rescued when his friend’s 9-1-1 call prompted an infrared drone to guide rescue swimmers & the man was found unharmed.  Santa Barbara Independent
