  • SBCC coach Sandrine Krul was named WSC North Coach of the Year for the third time after a season in which the Vaqueros posted a 21-7 record and led the conference in defensive stats. The team will host 23-seeded Fullerton tomorrow at 5 p.m. in Rob Gym.  Noozhawk
  • Carpinteria High honored aquatics standout Hazel Dugre with the Phil Womble Ethics in Sports Award at Monday’s SBART Luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe. Bishop Diego plays in the CIF-SS Division 5 championship on Saturday — local spring sports start up across town.  Noozhawk
  • Dos Pueblos wrestler Brandon Velasquez earned a spot at the State Meet after placing fifth in the CIF Masters Meet, where he went 4-2 in the 157-pound division. The tournament will take place on Saturday at Sonora High with four Charger wrestlers competing.  Noozhawk
  • The Western State Conference announced awards Saturday, naming Jack Berry and James Reach to the All-Conference First Team after the Vaqueros posted their best season in 19 years (Berry averaged 13.5 points while Reach played the most minutes).   • San Marcos’ Luis Campos & Bishop Diego’s Eden Wynne earned Athlete of the Week honors after playoff highlights. Campos scored a bicycle kick goal while Wynne led in points at the SBART Press Luncheon at Harry’s Plaza Cafe, and she will play Saturday’s championship at 2 p.m.  Noozhawk
  • UCSB Baseball swept Portland 6-2 on Sunday as Kellan Montgomery (Dos Pueblos alum) pitched seven strong innings while Nick Husovsky added late RBI hits to secure the win. The team heads south to LMU today at Page Stadium.  Noozhawk
  • SBCC Baseball won its three-game conference series against Moorpark at Pershing Park with close scores of 7-4, 4-3 & 8-7, highlighted by Nelson's strong play. The Vaqueros will open seven conference games, starting with Tuesday's trip to Cuesta, Thursday at Pershing Park at 2 p.m., and Saturday in Cuesta.  Noozhawk
