CULTURE NEWS

  • Santa Barbara Public Library Plaza will host La Piazza (Italian festival) from April 10-12 with live music, Italian food tastings, film projections, and cultural workshops. Family activities and special restaurant deals add extra flavor to the celebration.  Santa Barbara Independent
  • Legendary singer Bob Dylan will perform at the Santa Barbara Bowl on June 17 with special guests Lucinda Williams and Her Band and the John Doe Folk Trio. Ticket sales open March 28 at 10 a.m. online (with a four-ticket limit) and pre-sales offer prices (from $63 to $243).  Edhat

  • Sable Offshore has resumed oil production at Platform Harmony along the Gaviota Coast and plans to reach full output soon, with oil sales expected to start April 1 (Santa Ynez Unit).  KEYT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A Chick-fil-A drive-thru plan at 4765 Calle Real in the Eastern Goleta Valley was delayed by a 3-2 vote on Wednesday due to air quality and traffic concerns—commissioners will revisit the proposal on May 27 to review mitigation measures.  Edhat
  • Goleta will enforce temporary resident-only parking limits (permit-only program) from noon Friday, April 3 to 7 a.m. Sunday near Isla Vista to ease congestion and maintain neighborhood access during Deltopia weekend. Residents must display permits to avoid tickets or towing.  Edhat
  • The Goleta Police Department reminds drivers this April to keep phones away and hands on the wheel to honor National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. They will patrol for hands‑free violations to reduce accidents (71.4% of drivers cite distracted driving as a major safety concern) in Goleta.  Santa Barbara Independent

  • The NAPA Center hosted a three-week Pediatric Intensive Therapy pop-up at the Inclusive Arts Clubhouse from March 9 through today, where six therapists provided physical, occupational, speech, and DMI treatments for 15 children with disabilities, marking the program’s second year of vital support.  KEYT
  • Cottage Health appointed Melissa Ruiz, MD, MPH as the Endowed Chair of its Pediatric Residency Program on Mar. 25, recognizing her contributions (and the Rales' support) to boost pediatric training.
