  • The Montecito Country Mart postal unit at 1026A Coast Village Road will remain open after a new contract was agreed upon by the mart’s owner and USPS — strong community support helped secure the deal. The new agreement takes effect this summer.  Noozhawk
  • County data shows that during Deltopia weekend from April 3 to April 5, emergency calls dropped 95% to 7 and law enforcement actions fell over 90% compared with last year.   • Nonstop flights to Chicago returned on April 6 with United Airlines operating a nearly full Boeing 737 MAX 8 flight.   • A new Pacific Surfliner train to Santa Barbara will begin service on May 4, departing Ventura County between 6 and 7 a.m. and arriving by 7:56 a.m. at the station and 8:11 a.m. at Goleta (offering a reliable alternative to highway traffic).  Santa Barbara Independent
