  • Dr. Carrie Towbes will be honored Wednesday as the Santa Barbara Foundation’s 82nd Person of the Year—continuing a longstanding family legacy of service that began with her parents. The awards luncheon will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort.  Noozhawk

CULTURE NEWS

  • Laguna Blanca’s Theatre Department will stage four performances of the dark comedy 'The Addams Family' at Spaulding Theatre at Laguna Blanca School (4125 Paloma Drive, Santa Barbara) from April 25 to 27. Performances are set for 7 p.m. on April 25, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on April 26, and 2 p.m. on April 27.  Noozhawk

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • SpaceX will launch its Falcon 9 rocket for the NROL-145 mission from Space Launch Complex-4 today at 5:29 a.m.; backup opportunities will start at 5:08 a.m. Monday. The booster’s 12th flight is set to land on the droneship Of Course I Still Love You in the Pacific Ocean and might cause a sonic boom in Santa Barbara—Ventura and San Luis Obispo counties if weather allows.  Noozhawk

SPORTS NEWS

  • Jackson Flora pitched a complete game shutout to give UCSB a 4—0 win over Cal Poly on Saturday, finishing a three-game series; the Gauchos will host Cal Baptist on Monday at 4:35 p.m. as they continue the season.  Santa Barbara Independent
  • The No. 18 UCSB men’s volleyball team lost a four-set match to No. 3 Hawai’i on Friday night at the Thunderdome—Cole Schobel set a career-high with 16 digs and freshman George Bruening led with 19 kills. They ran it back in a rematch on Saturday night to honor their seven seniors for Senior Night.  Noozhawk
  • UCSB Women’s Water Polo ended its regular season Friday night with a 13 to 11 loss to UC San Diego as seniors Imani Clemons scored four goals and Annie Kuester earned her 11th hat trick. The team will enter the Big West Championship next weekend as the No. 6 seed—set to face UC Irvine in the quarterfinals on Friday, April 25.  Noozhawk
  • Cate swim celebrated Senior Night by sweeping both Foothill Tech and Laguna Blanca on Friday at Emmett Horowitz Aquatic Center and finishing an undefeated season while honoring seniors (Ben White, Stella Rogers, Phin Stephenson, Joba Samson, Tallulah Bates, and Baye Breene). The team will return to action at the Tri-Valley League Championships beginning April 30th.  Noozhawk
