- ➤ The United Boys + Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara County announced its planned 2025 Great Futures Event: Under the Tuscan Stars, which will run from 6-10 p.m. Saturday, June 7 at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum; the gala will include a traditional Tuscan dinner, live entertainment and an artisan market to support youth programs serving over 3,600 local children. - ➤ UC Santa Barbara’s Artificial Intelligence Community of Practice will host the AI Spring Symposium on Zoom from April 28 to May 2, with daily sessions on topics such as chatbots, AI in clinical medical use and college students’ use of ChatGPT (open to all experience levels). ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Critically endangered steelhead trout that survived the Palisades Fire spawned around 100 new trout in Arroyo Hondo Creek after being rescued from Topanga Creek by environmental groups including CDFW & the Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains. Officials say the spawning marks a key step in restoring Southern California steelhead populations as monitoring continues to track the fish’s progress. Santa Barbara Independent

- ➤ Santa Barbara County Public Works identified that several rural roads in the northern part of the county have not been re-paved in years and are hard to navigate, and officials will repair the roads in sections while notifying residents ahead of time + they face logistical challenges due to the roads' difficult terrain. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital began its journey toward Magnet designation after joining the ANCC Pre-Intent Program in July 2024 and plans to submit its formal application in 2026 while nurses from across the system actively lead the process.
