COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Montecito Association board updated residents at its April meeting on the Hands Across Montecito outreach initiative and local agency reports from the fire chief and sheriff. The board announced an Upper Village Sip & Shop event on April 30 and will meet on May 12 to strengthen local ties.  Noozhawk

CULTURE NEWS

  • More than 1,000 people attended the 40th annual Kite Festival at Santa Barbara City College on Sunday — after the event was rescheduled from April 12 due to rain, with the 'You and Me' theme celebrating family fun.  Noozhawk
  • Ryan Bingham will headline an intimate benefit concert outdoors at the Solvang Festival Theater on April 30. Attendees can choose between a VIP package with a pre-show reception and standard admission, with proceeds supporting local pediatric cancer programs.  Noozhawk

  • Point Conception Institute is advancing conservation science at the Dangermond Preserve with hands-on research, digital twin technology & collaborative projects with academic and tribal partners.   • Santa Barbara officials invite locals to shape the Waterfront Adaptation Plan by completing a survey open until May 18 and joining sessions on Apr. 29 at Faulkner Gallery, Apr. 30 at the Maritime Museum, and virtually on May 6 via Zoom; the plan will reduce flood risks plus improve access.  Santa Barbara Independent

  • The Santa Barbara Community Rowing team capped off its sprint season with a strong performance at the River City Sprints in West Sacramento on April 12. The team will host a free youth Learn to Row event on Saturday, April 25 (9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.) at Cachuma Lake.  Noozhawk
  • Santa Barbara High boys lacrosse clinched a share of the Channel League title with a 20-2 win over crosstown rival San Marcos on Tuesday; the Dons finished the season at 12-2 and will await CIF-SS playoff details set to be released Friday.  Noozhawk
