  • The Santa Barbara South Coast Chamber of Commerce announced an awards gala on May 28 at the Rosewood Miramar Beach Resort, where 2026 Stars of the South Coast honorees will be celebrated for achievements in nonprofit, hospitality, civic leadership, and business (tickets are available on its website).  Noozhawk
  • SpaceX’s Falcon 9 launched 25 Starlink satellites from Space Launch Complex 4 East at Vandenberg Space Force Base on Sunday, April 26 between 7:00 a.m. + 11:00 a.m. The booster landed on its droneship and some local residents heard sonic booms.  Edhat

CULTURE NEWS

  • Kronos Quartet will perform Three Bones, a multisensory program celebrating musical traditions from diverse communities, at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at UCSB Campbell Hall (West Coast Premiere) where guest artists join the ensemble.  Noozhawk
  • Officials unveiled the 2026 Fiesta poster on the weekend in Santa Barbara, showcasing traditional Old Spanish Days elements and local landmarks (including the Old Mission and Casa De La Guerra) in celebration of Fiesta Forever.   • At Santa Barbara Maritime Museum, students — nearly 4,800 last year — are gaining first-hand experience in marine science, maritime history, and environmental stewardship through immersive field programs.   • The Santa Barbara Earth Day Festival honored environmental heroes today as Unite to Light’s president Megan Birney Rudert and former honoree Rep.   • Marian Regional Medical Center hosted its annual NICU Reunion on Saturday, bringing together hundreds of families and hospital staff to celebrate the progress of former NICU patients.
