Zavian Chappell was sentenced on May 16th by Judge Stephen Foley to 50 years to life plus two life sentences without parole for murdering his wife Cassandra and nephew Tyree on April 30th — the maximum penalty allowed by law.

Veteran rock photographer Henry Diltz is coming to Lobero Theatre on May 31 — he will join pop music expert Hale Milgrim for his Quips, Pix, and Flix series to show iconic images from his long career.

The event will share personal stories and memories—linking Diltz’s decades of work with classic rock legends.

Santa Barbara Clean Energy is giving local residents five types of free trees to help cut carbon from the air as the city works toward carbon neutrality by 2035.

More than half of the 55 trees have already been reserved, and residents should plan for proper placement to make sure trees like the California Bay Laurel grow without issues — such as interference with power lines.

St. Francis Foundation sold its building at 2323 De La Vina St.—next to Cottage Hospital and set to become a pediatric cancer support center—to Teddy Bear Cancer Foundation to help families battling cancer.
