- ➤ Goleta is asking volunteers for its Second Annual Fourth of July Drone Light Show at the Dos Pueblos High School football field at 7266 Alameda Ave. Volunteers must attend a meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, July 2 to receive a T-shirt and assignments for setup, guest services and safety coordination. - ➤ Santa Barbara will host its 52nd annual summer solstice celebration from June 19 to 21 with a four-hour parade starting at 12 p.m. on Friday at the intersection of Ortega and Santa Barbara Streets — the parade will conclude at Alameda Park where a festival featuring music, dance and family activities will follow. - ➤ The Santa Barbara County Education Office honored four classified school employees as Classified School Employees of the Year on May 18. The awardees were selected from 125 school sites to recognize their role in keeping schools safe & welcoming. Santa Barbara Independent
- ➤ This spring, 26 Orcutt Academy seniors will earn associate degrees from Hancock College at a May 22 ceremony as part of the Early College Cadre program. Hancock plans to expand the dual-enrollment initiative to Ernest Righetti High and Lompoc High beginning fall. Noozhawk
- ➤ Multilingual elementary and junior high students competed at the Santa Barbara County Education Office’s Spanish-language Battle of the Books — Batalla de los Libros — on May 14. - ➤ More than 100 community members joined a paddleout at Refugio State Beach Sunday morning to mark the 11th anniversary of the 2015 Refugio spill.
