- ➤ Dos Pueblos High School-based Octobots Robotics Team returned from the FIRST Robotics World Championship in Houston after winning five of eight qualifying matches, and they will host a robotics summer camp for rising students in grades 5 to 9 from June 22 to Aug. 7. Edhat
- ➤ On May 17, four Righetti High students won awards at the Central Coast Film Society’s Student Showcase held at San Luis Obispo High School — achievements in documentary, screenwriting, and directing set the stage for their future film studies. Noozhawk
- ➤ Munira Kairat, a Ph.D. candidate at UCSB's Gevirtz Graduate School of Education, was selected as one of 35 National Academy of Education Spencer Dissertation Fellows from nearly 500 applicants. - ➤ The Santa Barbara County Education Office hosted its annual Education Celebration in Solvang last Thursday, May 21, where more than 100 awards and grants honored educators for creative classroom practices. - ➤ Friends of Goleta Beach Park say county officials must include protection upgrades in upcoming budgets to guard the park against a predicted severe El Niño this winter.
