  • Santa Barbara Airport hosted Airport Day with the theme 'Imagine a Future in Aviation' where students applied for scholarships, talked to pilots & air traffic controllers, and watched flyovers while enjoying a display of classic and exotic cars. Pilot and author Tracey Curtis-Taylor shared her flying experience and encouraged more women to join the aviation field.  KEYT
  • On Friday, June 7, 2,200 cyclists passed through Santa Barbara as part of the final AIDS/LifeCycle ride — a 545-mile trek from San Francisco to Santa Monica. Organizers said the event, which raised over $300 million in 30 years, will be replaced by shorter rides in the future.  Santa Barbara Independent

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • SpaceX will launch its Falcon 9 rocket from Space Launch Complex-4 at Vandenberg Space Force Base today at 6:34 a.m. with backup windows until 10:34 a.m.; the mission will send 26 Starlink satellites into orbit and the booster will land on the Of Course I Still Love You droneship in the Pacific—bringing a possible sonic boom to nearby counties if conditions allow.  Noozhawk

  • Ramon and Sandra Guerrero opened the first tasting room for their family winery Amada Cellars at 490 Bell St.—Suite 104 in Los Alamos to honor Sandra’s grandmother and share their winemaking legacy from the Santa Ynez Valley. The tasting room is open Friday through Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. and welcomes local visitors to sample their award-winning wines.  Noozhawk
