- ➤ The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise will host its annual Dolphin Derby Festival on Sunday, July 13 at Chase Palm Park— the fundraiser features dolphin races on a 200-foot water course, live music with DJ Darla Bea, and food vendors including Cousins Maine Lobster and Connie’s Hot Dogs. - ➤ Habitat for Humanity of Southern Santa Barbara County will dedicate its 23rd Habitat home and break ground on its 24th and 25th homes on Tuesday, July 15 at 11 a.m.—the ceremony will be held in Ortega Park at the corner of Cota and Quarantina streets and at 712 E. - ➤ The Housing Authority of Santa Barbara received $5.8 million from California's Homekey+ program to convert a former hotel at 3055 De la Vina Street into 32 supportive housing units with kitchenettes for extremely low-income residents. - ➤ Highway 101 in Montecito will see lane shifts starting Saturday night as southbound traffic moves toward the median between Olive Mill Road and Posilipo Lane—near the Rosewood Miramar Beach hotel—with both the southbound onramp at Olive Mill Road and the southbound offramp at San Ysidro Road closing for construction. The changes are part of a major project to add a third lane between Carpinteria and Santa Barbara, with work in Montecito and Santa Barbara South expected to continue through 2026. Noozhawk
- ➤ City Administrator Kelly McAdoo said complaints of mismanagement at the FARO Center—such as trespassing, public urination and yelling—have pushed city officials to switch to a month-to-month lease and look for new leadership to better focus the program on housing navigation and workforce development.
