  • On August 17th, Santa Barbara Humane helped 209 pets and provided 601 free services at Waller Park – setting a record for its Day in the Park events over four years. The nonprofit will announce more free vaccine events at its campuses in the coming months.  Edhat
  • Elings Park is set to host Pints for the Park, a beer fest fundraiser on Saturday, Sept.6—new sites at Godric Grove and Singleton Pavilion provide hilltop views of the city, mountains and ocean.   • Mexican artist Beatris Burgoin is showcasing her solo exhibit Entre Mundos at Art & Soul Gallery from Sept. 4 through Sept. 29 with an opening reception from 5-8 p.m. at 1323 State St., Santa Barbara — her paintings explore themes of migration, memory, and belonging — linking her roots in San Juanico with her current community.  Noozhawk
  • SCAPE’s Nature-focused art exhibit Nature’s Palette will open 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12 at the Music Academy of the West with a 5-6 p.m. reception and will continue Saturday, Sept. 13 from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The free event will raise funds for Explore Ecology to support school gardens, field trips, and creative reuse art workshops—fostering local environmental learning.  Noozhawk

  • The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office warns residents that scammers are making fraudulent phone calls demanding payment for fines or tolls—community members should hang up immediately and call the Sheriff's Office to verify the call.  Edhat
  • SBCAG and Santa Barbara MTD launched a free ride program on the 19X express bus from August 25 to Sept. 12 to help commuters avoid Highway 101 traffic, and the service runs weekdays from Carpinteria to Santa Barbara City College + riders who log four trips online will be entered to win free monthly passes.   • Officials announced that plans for a new Metrolink service—linking Ventura County with Santa Barbara and Goleta—are delayed until January 2026 due to ongoing insurance negotiations with Union Pacific amid a potential merger with Norfolk Southern. The service, which stems from a 2008 voter measure and will offer up to 500 seats on morning and afternoon trips, is expected to ease traffic on the 101 Freeways.  KEYT
