  • Hospitality workers will compete soon at the Hilton Santa Barbara Beachfront Resort in a contest called The Battle of the Brands, where teams show their skills after Labor Day.   • September is California Pedestrian Safety Month and the Goleta Police Department reminds drivers to slow down and watch for pedestrians on local roads. HEALTH NEWS

  • Santa Barbara County Behavioral Wellness invites residents to join community events in September as part of National Suicide Prevention Month—these include a free Out of the Darkness Community Walk at Goleta Beach Park on October 4 and additional gatherings on September 9, 10, and 17 to raise mental health awareness and support.   • Santa Barbara County Department of Behavioral Wellness is celebrating National Recovery Month to raise awareness of mental health and substance use disorders and to honor those in recovery.
