CULTURE NEWS

  • Camerata Pacifica has announced its 36th season running from September to May with eight programs featuring classical and modern works and a new three-year Beethoven project. ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Southern California Edison has started phase 2 of its Edison Tunnel trail stream restoration project, and the trail to Inspiration Point will be closed for four months while crews remove debris and replant native vegetation—hikers can use Jesusita or Rattlesnake Canyon as alternate routes.  KEYT

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A new pedestrian signal has been installed on Las Positas Road at the intersection with Stanley Drive to help ease dangerous traffic conditions—drivers, bikers and walkers will benefit from the full-sized light system and restriped lanes. The signal, which features both flashing and steady red and yellow lights, is placed near Adams school and State Street across from the Municipal golf course.  KEYT
  • On Wednesday, Chair Laura Bridley resigned from the Santa Barbara County Planning Commission, citing state mandates — which cut local control in housing policy — as a key factor in her decision.
