- ➤ Large flocks of crows have gathered near Milpas Street after eight laurel fig trees were cut for a safety project to widen sidewalks and improve crosswalks. - ➤ SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket will launch today from Space Launch Complex-4 on South Base between 10:23 and 11:23 a.m.—if needed, a backup window opens Tuesday at 10:10 a.m.—and the booster will land at Landing Zone 4 more than seven minutes after liftoff, possibly producing sonic booms while delivering satellites for the National Reconnaissance Office. - ➤ CAL FIRE has boosted staffing statewide to guard against storms that may bring dry lightning and gusty winds — Santa Barbara County has added five extra Wildland Engines and one hand crew — after a severe lightning siege last month that sparked over 530 fires.
