- ➤ On Labor Day, members of the Humanist Society of Santa Barbara led a hike along the San Antonio Creek Trail starting at Tucker’s Grove Park and ending at the bridge on Highway 154—hikers crossed dry streams and climbed a dam with a 30-degree incline that most found doable. - ➤ Santa Barbara Historical Museum reports that Mountain Drive is back in print after being out of print for years—this new edition highlights the pioneer bohemian community's unique story. - ➤ City officials and developers presented a revised housing plan for PaseoNuevo near the Canary Hotel at the Historic Landmarks Commission meeting — the proposal calls for demolishing the former Macy’s to build a 7-story, 233-unit market-rate building plus a separate six-level affordable housing unit that would be 75 feet tall and exceed the city charter’s 60-foot rule. Officials said the plan will go to City Council on Dec. 2 and a formal application is expected in the spring. Noozhawk
