- ➤ Starr King Parent-Child Workshop will host its Winter Holiday Market & Silent Auction on November 16 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 1525 1/2 Santa Barbara St—this free event offers vendors, food, crafts, and kid-friendly activities with proceeds supporting the preschool program. - ➤ Route One Farmers Market launched its Help a Neighbor program in response to the USDA freeze on SNAP benefits—doubling the first $15 spent with EBT to help families get affordable produce. - ➤ The South Coast Chamber of Commerce will host its 75th Annual Community Awards Gala on Dec. 5 at The Ritz-Carlton Bacara to honor local leaders for their service to Goleta. - ➤ Ensemble Theatre Company said on November 4 that it chose six new board members—Adam Berger, Dan Burnham, Dan Cerf, Gary Justice, Ellen Robinson, and Helene Segal—to help run its shows in Santa Barbara. - ➤ The Righetti High School Agriculture Department hosted Kinderpatch, an ag-themed event that served over 800 elementary students from across the county with pumpkin games, a hay maze and a petting zoo. All visitors received a free pumpkin grown by RHS students—200 FFA volunteers helped run the event that has been held for over 30 years. Noozhawk
- ➤ Santa Barbara City College now offers an online ADHD exam that gives students results as fast as five days—this one to one and a half hour assessment costs $189 and lets test-takers pause and resume as needed to reduce delays in getting diagnostic appointments. The service, run through Mentavi Health for DSPS students, addresses the long wait times and high costs of traditional in-person evaluations. Noozhawk

- ➤ The Los Padres National Forest has tentatively scheduled prescribed burns at campgrounds, trailheads, and fire stations from November through December to reduce wildfire risk — officials will only ignite burns when weather conditions guide smoke away from populated areas — and residents are advised to take precautions if smoke is evident. - ➤ Santa Barbara’s Dwight Murphy Field renovation reached 25% completion as crews demolished park structures and began installing underground utilities to build the all-abilities playground—officials said the project began in June and will reopen in spring 2027. Edhat

- ➤ On Nov 3, the Central Coast Tri-County Community Health Workers/Promotores Capacity Building Collaborative received a national ACAP award for its work helping underserved residents—key partners including Children and Family Resource Services, Family Service Agency, and the Center for Family Strengthening were honored for their role in providing community health services. - ➤ On November 4th, thousands of low-income seniors and people with chronic illness experienced growing food insecurity as SNAP benefits were cut nationwide, leaving many without their last line of defense against hunger.
