- ➤ In Summerland, Sweetwheel Farms, led by Leslie Person Ryan, has expanded its Food with Dignity program to deliver twice as many produce bags each week to help families facing a surge in food insecurity in Santa Barbara County. The program, funded by private donations and profits from its daily farmers’ market stand, serves over 500 people each Monday and will add weekly Thursday deliveries—addressing urgent needs for fresh, healthy food. - ➤ More than 100 seabirds became coated in oil from a natural seep off the Santa Barbara coast, with International Bird Rescue taking in 109 birds found near Ventura Harbor and Malibu. - ➤ International Bird Rescue is treating several seabirds with oil on their feathers after an oil slick that covers about one square mile was found off the Santa Barbara coast on November 6. - ➤ The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office has proposed a temporary 72-hour ban on loud amplified music from Friday midnight to Sunday midnight during Deltopia weekend in Isla Vista to address crowd safety and emergency resource strains—officials say it applies to all properties and violations may lead to fines.
