ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Santa Barbara County banned new oil and gas drilling and will phase out 1,030 active wells that produce 2.7 million barrels annually as part of its 2030 Climate Action Plan to cut emissions by 50% from 2018 levels—an example noted after COP30 in Brazil ended without addressing fossil fuel emissions. The county now seeks to lead by urging other local governments to follow its approach in phasing out fossil fuels.  Noozhawk
